Richard Bærug is a tourism expert based in Riga, Latvia. Originally from Norway, Bærug has lived in Latvia since the late 1980s, when he was one of the first Western Europeans to move to Riga. Over the last twenty years, Bærug has served as director of the Nordic Information Office in Riga as well as executive director of the Riga Convention Bureau. Today he runs a destination management company called The Mice Cream. In this interview, Bærug speaks about how he arrived in Latvia in the late 1980s, how Latvia shares Northern European values, what attracts him to the city of Riga, what makes Latvia such an ideal tourist destination.
