Latvia's central bank (LB) on January 29 revealed the design of a new special edition coin produced to mark the centenaries of the three Baltic states in 2018, reports. 

Due for official launch o January 31, the design was chosen by a public vote run by the central banks of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia and in the words of LB "confirms the unity of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia and their willingness to cooperate in the name of independence and freedom and symbolizes the common past, present and future of the Baltic States."

The chosen coin is the work of Lithuanian designer Justas Petrulis, though one side retains the standard 2 euro coin design used across the eurozone. Each country will add its own name to the coins it issues.
